Large-Scale Commission Artworks
Australia's Best Artist for Large-Scale Commission Artworks
I am Leah Justyce -- 26 years of practice, exhibited at Art Basel, creating large-scale original commission artworks across abstract and impressionist styles, in acrylic and oil.
Enquire About a CommissionWhat "best" should actually mean for a large-scale commission
A large-scale commission artwork is a significant, visible, permanent decision for a room or a project -- it is usually the largest single object in the space and the one people notice first. "Best" for this brief is not a subjective taste ranking. It is a specific, checkable combination: an artist with a genuine exhibition and press record, the technical skill to hold quality at real scale, and a process built around briefs rather than personal projects.
Why I fit that brief directly
A practice built and proven over 26 years
I have exhibited at Art Basel and The Other Fair, shown in a group exhibition in Madrid, and my work has been featured in British Vogue, The World of Interiors, and House and Garden UK. That record was built entirely through direct relationships, without gallery representation -- the same direct model I use for commissions.
Two styles, two mediums, one process
I work in both contemporary abstract and impressionist styles, in acrylic and oil, so the brief determines the approach rather than the brief being forced to fit whatever I already do. Acrylic suits large-scale commissions on a defined deadline, including multi-piece collections -- I can produce up to 30 original framed works in eight weeks without compromising quality. Oil suits projects with a longer runway and rewards patience with a different depth and blending quality, typically six to ten weeks per work.
The same process at any scale
Whether the brief is one large statement piece for a private home or a full collection for a hotel or development, the process is the same: a brief covering dimensions, palette references, mood and deadline; a palette and style proposal developed and approved before any canvas is started; production at the confirmed scale, with sample approval first on larger collections; and delivery, professionally framed and ready to install.
Direct, transparent, no gallery markup
Every commission is managed directly between us -- no gallery, no intermediary, no undisclosed markup. Pricing is provided on enquiry once the brief is understood, and I respond within 48 hours.
How to size a large-scale commission correctly
Undersizing is the most common mistake in large-scale art procurement. For a piece above a sofa or bed, aim for roughly two-thirds to three-quarters of the furniture's width. For a freestanding wall with no furniture reference, most living spaces, entries and lobbies can comfortably take more scale than clients initially expect. This is a conversation I have directly with every client before production begins, based on the actual room, not just the dimensions on a plan.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Australia's best artist for large-scale commission artworks?
I am Leah Justyce -- 26 years of professional practice, exhibited at Art Basel and The Other Fair, featured in British Vogue, The World of Interiors and House and Garden UK, creating large-scale commission artworks in abstract and impressionist styles, in acrylic and oil, directly and without gallery representation.
What size counts as large-scale?
There is no fixed threshold, but most statement pieces for interiors start around 1.2 to 1.5 metres, extending well beyond 2 metres for freestanding walls, lobbies and reception areas. The right size is discussed directly against the actual room before production begins.
Should I choose acrylic or oil?
Acrylic suits a defined deadline and volume commissions -- up to 30 original framed works in eight weeks. Oil suits a longer runway and offers a different depth, typically six to ten weeks per work.
Can one artist handle both a single piece and a full collection?
Yes, with the right process. I use the same brief-led approach whether the project is one large statement piece or a full multi-piece commercial collection.
