NDIS Mentoring

A life made wider.

One-to-one mentoring for NDIS participants across Australia - building real capacity through creativity and enterprise. The work is theirs. My role is to walk beside it.

Mentoring that meets a person where they are - and grows with them.

With more than two decades as a working artist, I mentor NDIS participants one-to-one, helping them build skills, confidence, and independence at their own pace.

Every participant's plan is different, so every mentorship is too. Some sessions are creative. Some are about building a business, a routine, or the confidence to be seen. What stays constant is the goal: growth that shows up in a participant's real life.

Sessions map to NDIS capacity-building goals, with progress notes each time - clear outcomes for participants, families, and plan managers alike. This is mentoring and skill development, not therapy or clinical treatment.

Two paths, one approach

How the mentoring works

Creative mentoring
Creative Mentoring

Confidence and independence, one creation at a time.

Creative mentoring supports participants to build independence, focus and confidence through a creative interest of their own. It's not about producing perfect artwork - it's about the person: their decisions, their growth, their pace. We meet each participant at what they already love, and use it to build real, everyday skills.

This participant began reluctant to engage with art. Session by session - led entirely by her own interests - she grew into a confident, independent participant who now makes her own creative decisions, leads projects, and waits, set up and ready, for each session to begin.

Delivered under NDIS Assistance with Daily Living - Standard Weekday Daytime (01_011_0107_1_1) - an activity to develop supported independence, focus and participation, helping the participant build skills to live as autonomously as possible.1:1 · $73.58 per hour · NDIS price limit 2026-27

One

Getting to know each other

She shared her interests and the way she likes to create. Led by her, we began with familiar, comfortable activities and the subjects she chose herself.

Communication / Expressing preferences / Engagement
Two

Into the community

We visited a local op shop to source canvases together - a plan she'd helped make the week before - then she independently finished a piece she'd started earlier.

Community participation / Planning / Independence
Three

Her own idea

She proposed a new project of her own, chose to paint one of the canvases, came out to buy paints, and began - explaining and using her own painting technique.

Initiative / Decision-making / Community participation
Four

Building skill and confidence

Set up and ready to begin on her own, she learned to mix colours and chose to apply the highlighting technique she'd watched the week before.

Independence / Learning / Confidence
Five

Creating in the world

She chose an outdoor session at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens - a walk, a begonia display, a local art show - gathering inspiration before continuing her portrait outdoors.

Community participation / Social engagement / Decision-making
Enterprise mentoring
Enterprise & Employment

Building a business, one skill at a time.

Enterprise mentoring supports participants working toward employment through their own venture - building the skills, systems, and confidence to run it, with support in the areas they find hard so they can lead with their strengths.

This participant rebuilt his children's entertainment business from the ground up: a live website, social media, an automated booking and marketing system, and his first paid events - real work readiness, step by step.

Delivered under NDIS Supports in Employment - Weekday Daytime (04_801_0133_5_1)- 1:1 assistance to develop work-related skills and build a participant's independence and capacity to work. Depending on a participant's plan, enterprise mentoring may also be delivered under other lines within the Finding and Keeping a Job budget - the right item is always confirmed with the participant's plan manager.1:1 · $73.58 per hour · NDIS price limit 2026-27

The rhythm

Ongoing, not a fixed course

i.

Individual goal plan

Two to three goals per participant, mapped to their NDIS capacity-building outcomes and reviewed as they grow.

ii.

Weekly or fortnightly

Sessions at a pace that suits the participant and their plan - hybrid or in person, depending on where you are in Australia.

iii.

Clear progress notes

Notes each session and a goal review every cycle, so there's always a clear outcome trail for plan reports.

The NDIS line items shown here reflect how these supports are currently delivered for specific participants. The right line for you depends on your individual plan - your plan manager or support coordinator may suggest a different item to suit your funding.

Wondering if this could fit a plan?

I take on a small number of participants at a time. Reach out to talk about goals, funding, and whether we're a good match.
